Our Design and Install Process
Creating a space for your family, loved ones, or community to gather, have fun, enjoy time outdoors, and exercise by building an outdoor court may seem daunting. However, when you work with a reliable team like our team at Utah Court Surfacing, you can trust that the design and install process is easy and worry-free. Whether you want a basketball court, tennis court, pickleball court, or something multi-use, our team is here and ready to help.
Reach Out to Our Team
Once you are ready to begin the court surfacing process, call our team or fill out our online contact form on our Contact Us page. From there, we’ll set up a phone call to review your wants and needs. During this initial call, we will discuss the type of sport or sports you want to play on this court, the colors and custom features you’d like to add, and set up a time to do an on-site inspection of your playing surface. From there, we will create an initial design and perform an install consult with you.
Onsite Inspection
Before we can start our design and install process, we will perform an onsite inspection of your newly constructed playing surface. We will do some quick measurements to confirm the size of your court. We will also determine if the surface is rough or smooth and look at the integrity of your pad. In order to install your surfacing, we need a rough surface that can provide a good grip for the surfacing product to adhere to. Once we’ve performed this thorough onsite inspection of your pad, we will begin the design process to ensure your surface meets the needs of you, your family, or your community.
Consultation
Once we have completed the inspection, we will sit down with you to discuss your vision and expectations for this project. From color selections to court design and layout, this is an incredibly important step in the design and install process. Based on our conversation, we will be able to give you a proposal on the project’s cost. We aim to answer all your questions, discuss the proposal, and then sign the agreement to contract our services. As part of our agreement, we require a 50% deposit and the other 50% once the project is completed. Then, we set a date to start your project.
The Install Process
Over years of installing surfacing materials across the Northern Utah area, our team has perfected our design and install process. Our installation process goes as follows:
- Step 1: To begin the design and install process, our team will begin installing equipment to make the court functional. This process may include core drilling holes, setting ground sleeves for posts, and installing basketball hoops, lights, and other accessories.
- Step 2: Once this equipment is installed, the court will need to be thoroughly cleaned before we can begin the surfacing. Our team will rinse dirt and debris from the surface using a pressure washer. Then, we use acid to etch the surface to prepare for the color coating system.
- Step 3: After cleaning the surface, we will fill cut expansion joints with a mixture of acrylic and rapid-set concrete. This will ensure your court is even before the surfacing process begins.
- Step 4: An important part of the design and install process is preparing your concrete for surfacing. During this step, we ensure your surface is ready to bond to the surfacing material by spraying an even coat of patch binder on the entire surface, guaranteeing the surfacing material will adhere properly.
- Step 5: Once the bonder is applied, we begin the application process. Our team will apply one coat of acrylic resurfacer with sand designed for filling and smoothing the surface in preparation for color coatings.
- Step 6: After installing this acrylic resurfacer, we apply two coats of the PickleMaster coating system to the entire court. We mix a neutral base coating with your desired color pigment to create the perfect border for your court.
- Step 7: When the border process is done, we apply two coats of the PickleMaster coating system dyed to meet your desired court color.
- Step 8: As we reach the end of the design and install process, we will stripe your court with textured white pickleball lines and shadow lines if desired.
